Hey Chris, we should do a trail run?!!

So yesterday Chris and I decided it would be fun to do a trail run/hike. My thought immediately went back to a hike we did 2 summers ago, Red Pine Lake Trail up in Little Cottonwood Canyon. It was the most beautiful hike I had been on and have been dying to do it ever since. I mean, check out this beautiful scenery...

Ya, we remembered there was some snow and that part of the trail was a little wet, but that wasn't going to stop us from thinking we could run up it...

So we put on our running shoes and headed out the door. The first couple of miles were fun. Hard. But fun. Then it was around the 2.5 mile mark that we knew we came unprepared this time. Little did we know we would be needing snow shoes to get all the way up and a snowboard to get down. Although it was very funny, we were too frustrated to laugh at ourselves for slipping and sliding everywhere trying to walk up on the dang snow. But once we got to the top, it was again all worth it and very rewarding. A little more snow this time but still very cool.

After taking a breather, eating some beef jerkey & sourpatch watermelons, we were refreshed and ready to take on the snow...

Yes I know I look goofy.

All in all, it was a fun trailrun/hike

HAPPY BIRTHDAY COURTNEY!

There are so many things that I love about Courtney that the list could go on and on it's pathetic. But I think she'd feel embarrased if I listed all of them because she's all too humble. I wanted to title this post, "Reasons I idolize this Birtday Girl!". I guess I'll save that for when I feel she deserves payback. That's crazy that I feel a payback for her would be to point out all her amazing qualities, strengths, the fact that she has impeccable skin, the hottest body(& that's after 4 kids) etc etc... to everyone else. I guess that tells you just how all around PERFECT Courtney is. Oh and don't worry Courtney, I know...we all know you're not perfect, I mean who is!? I'm sure you do have some flaws.....that everyone else would hardly consider flaws!

LOVE YOU....WE all love you, HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!

Ragnar Relay-Wasatch Back here we come!

So, Chris and I decided to waste, no not waste, enjoy our Saturday by driving the Relay Course. It starts in Logan, which is exactly 2 hours north of Provo, and runs through numerous small towns

The BEST BBQ ever, Harley and Bucks Grill!
,

up and down mountains

,
...Christy and Jana's hills...
alongside about 10 different Reservoirs, climbs up the backside of Deer Valley, to the point where the green disappears & the snow is in abundance(sorry Meghan & Courtney, haha)

...Courtney and Meghan, you start down there, picture doesn't do it justice...
then it ends in Park City! 180 miles, 12 people, 2 days....haha, this is going to be fun!!
I'm laughing at the moment, not sure whether its about the fact that I'm literally going to fall & tumble down the mountain on my first leg or the fact that I'm going to be in a MINI-van for about 28hrs with 5 men. HA!

We're CHEAP! There you go...I've said it!

We don't have internet in our humble basement home! Nor do we have cable or the fancy DVR all of you take for granted. Because of that, I missed the first 2 weeks of 'so you think you can dance'. BLASTED! That's right....when we want to record something we pop in the ancient VHS tape. I bet some of you have even forgotten what a VHS tape is! I think the only other people on the face of this planet that don't have cable and DVR are Kevin and Daina Horne. You have no idea how disconcerting that is to me....Chris is so much his Dad and his Mom. Ya, sure we'll always be dressed nice(thank you Daina, I will always be indebted to you for that) but will we ever own one of those precious DVR machines(I don't even know what they're called) or will I ever have the chance to get hooked on to one of those food network shows or MTV shows?? I don't think so. But surprisingly, I think I'm ok with that.
NOW, on to what we've been up to for the last couple of months....pictures will have to come later(I'm at work and they're kinda nazi's and I don't think they'd appreciate me downloading pics to this computer)
APRIL
*Chris and I ran the SLC 1/2 marathon. Chris stayed by my side to help pace me for a PR. I was dead at the end and wasn't able to appreciate that until a good 15 min after finishing. I just felt pain and remorse for pushing myself so hard. But then that went away and I was so grateful for my sweet husband for helping me and not worrying about a good time for himself.
*Chris graduated!! My Mom & Dad came up for it along with his Mom & Dad, Annie, Courtney and his Uncle Gary & Aunt Sue. It was a lot of fun having everyone up here. And I'm sure his Dad and Uncle Gary will always be glad they made the 10hr drive only to miss Chris' name being announced. Hysterical. Those lil goons were just chatting away out in the hallway and missed it!

MAY
We celebrated Chris' graduation by going on a cruise with Brett and Rachel Miller. Our stops were Coco Cay Bahamas, St Thomas, and St Martin. And we also got to go to Disney World free, thank you Rach!! So really, it kind of felt like two vacations in one. It was so much fun with the Millers. We were always entertained! Whether it was Rachel obsessing about anything involved with Space(she teaches 1st grade and I guess the last 2 weeks involved space this and space that), or her turning the ladies bicep contest into a "So you think you can dance" contest, or her beginners luck at Roulette and not so beginners luck at Bingo, or the fact they almost didn't make it on the ship (that explains Rachel's tears. They were the last 2 on the ship!). It was so much fun and can't wait for another excuse to spend a butt load of money and travel with these two! Love you guys!!
