Powell3

750 meter Swim. 12 mile Bike. 5k Run.
Brett, Chris and I committed to this sucka less than a month ago. And about 1 week ago, I wanted nothing more than to come down with some horrible illness or bad injury. THE UNKNOWN! It was the unknown, I hate the unknown. I was a complete wreck over the anticipation of this race for a whole week. I purposely avoided thinking about it. Every time someone brought it up, my tummy turned. Chris and Brett were just pumped...and I, well, I was in a slump. I justified my slump as "tapering." HA.
~Morning Of. Ahhh, I was such a mess. I had them marking my arms and calves all wrong. AND when we got down to the water, I realized I had put my wetsuit on backwards. FYI, wetsuits are not the funnest things to put on and take off.
~The swim went well for me...I didn't go too fast but that was ok with me. My swim consisted of freestyle, breaststroke, and backstroke. Haha, I just couldn't get my breathing down. Chris on the other hand...hahaha. Poor thing. He swam faster than I did and I don't know how. His swim consisted of fearing for his life, having a constant eye on the jetskis; you know, just in case his doggy paddle didn't suffice. No, Chris did do some freestyle and some weird backstroke thingy he saw other men doing. (He does think it was a doggy paddle for the record books). Brett, well Brett is just a power-house in the water. The guy should be a fish, NO a shark.
~The bike was fun for all of us. It was, I swear, 80% uphill. But it was a lot of fun and we all did well.
~The run was also good. Which is weird because I thought for sure I was running an 11min mile...my legs felt so weird.
All in all...it was a very fun event! I don't know if I feel 'hooked' like everyone told me I would feel. Maybe that's because I hope to be pregnant sooner than later and don't feel the race commitment. Who knows?! But it was a blast, that's for sure!!
And I can't forget to mention Pops! Pops sponsored us this weekend. He drove us 3 hooligans up to Powell. Brett's parents also came up to support. All three of them ended up volunteering! Gotta love them supporters :)

TDO 2008!
I started working for Red Mountain Endodontics the end of August. Ohhhh, did I luck out w/ a fun group of girls! We went to San Diego the last weekend of September for a TDO conference. TDO is the software we use at the office. It was a fun weekend!
I think the highlight had to have been Jenny performing as Brittany Spears while being hypnotized...hillarious. She had every dance move down perfectly! Love you Jenny :)

Provo (7.28.08-7.30.08)
Here are some more photos of us when Annie came up to visit and help us move down. We did some bike riding up the Provo Canyon, Chris & Annie did a trip to Park City and rode on the Alpine Coaster(which they said was a blast), and then for Annie's 17th Birthday on the 30th, we went tubing down the Provo River(and yes, you have to wear the life vest). After tubing, we went to Outback for dinner and then to a movie, Mama Mia! Gotta tell ya, it was one of the more eventful weeks that I've had in a long time! So much fun tho! And then on top of all of that, we packed up the moving truck that Thursday and started our drive home Friday.

Happy 4th Anniversary....8.21.04
We had a perfect, simple Anniversary....dinner at Charlestons, and then dessert at a great little gelato shop fountain-side (Fountain Hills), just in time for the sunset and a fountain show.

Annie's Visit
So, Annie came up yesterday just to hang out with us in Provo during our last week here. I'm sure we'll eat out at all our faves, at least twice, while she's up here. And we'll try our best to experience ALL of Provo. We just don't want to feel like we missed out on anything. So, we have a jammed pack week ahead of us and it all starts with my work's summer party...BBQ & Owlz BBall Game...
Then, we decided to try out this new very cute and modernly(is that a word?) decorated yogurt place called Spoon Me for dessert...sorry no pictures. Then, believe it or not, we hit up Maggie Moos..#1 visit, check! Let's just say not everyone felt fully satisfied after Spoon Me (I think it was a little too healthy) and Maggie Moos ALWAYS hits the spot. Best "Udderly Cream" ice cream! After that, Chris and I decided we should make at least one trip to the Nickelcade while living in Provo and what better night to do it then with Annie here!
Seriously, as white trash as that place looks, it is a TOTAL shame that it was never visited by us before...sadly, that was our first, and most likely last, visit to the Nickelcade. It was an hour and a half of pure enjoyment. So much fun, So incredibly cheap, So white trash, So sick. SO COOL.

Documentation of our 4th of July, 2008
It was an ideal way to spend our last 4th in Provo. It started by riding bikes up and down Center Street the night before to take in the Freedom Festival Festivities. I tell ya, Great people watching. Enjoying the fact that downtown Provo is more alive on the Eve of the 4th than "Mill" is on New Years Eve....Ok, maybe not, but the Provo Freedom Festival is the most exciting event of the year, that's for sure! The streets are lined with tents, couches, sleeping bags, blankets...all for people to camp out(starting at 3pm the day before) to reserve a good seat for the 4th of July Parade!! Hooray! Chris and I found that inviting yourself onto the reserved Nuskin Bleachers gives you the best seat in town! Thanks Nuskin!
Anyway, our 4th of July weekend was a blast...we did a lot of bike riding, took in all of the Freedom Festival Activities, and we even did a couple of bbq's (by ourselves...us losers have no more friends or family up here :)
That morning, we got up at the buttcrack of dawn to peddle as fast as our lathargic legs could go to make it to the Hot Air Balloon Show...again, it was ridiculousy lively! I just couldn't believe all the cute families I saw that were already all done up in their cute festive-wear! I mean, those moms had to have woken up at 4am just for this little event. Pretty cool!
After that, we peddled on over to Einsteins and enjoyed watching the 5k/10k. We then watched our last Utah Parade Extravaganza! Wait...July 24!! You know what that date is? Pioneer Day of course! I've heard there's another killer parade up in SLC...we just may be attending that. Then maybe we'll make our way over to the Original Pancake House...mmmmm! It's a plan.Anyway, our 4th of July weekend was a blast...we did a lot of bike riding, took in all of the Freedom Festival Activities, and we even did a couple of bbq's (by ourselves...us losers have no more friends or family up here :)

Hey Chris, we should do a trail run?!!
So yesterday Chris and I decided it would be fun to do a trail run/hike. My thought immediately went back to a hike we did 2 summers ago, Red Pine Lake Trail up in Little Cottonwood Canyon. It was the most beautiful hike I had been on and have been dying to do it ever since. I mean, check out this beautiful scenery...

Ya, we remembered there was some snow and that part of the trail was a little wet, but that wasn't going to stop us from thinking we could run up it...

Ya, we remembered there was some snow and that part of the trail was a little wet, but that wasn't going to stop us from thinking we could run up it...
So we put on our running shoes and headed out the door. The first couple of miles were fun. Hard. But fun. Then it was around the 2.5 mile mark that we knew we came unprepared this time. Little did we know we would be needing snow shoes to get all the way up and a snowboard to get down. Although it was very funny, we were too frustrated to laugh at ourselves for slipping and sliding everywhere trying to walk up on the dang snow. But once we got to the top, it was again all worth it and very rewarding. A little more snow this time but still very cool.
