Statement from President Thomas S. Monson:

Statement from President Henry B. Eyring:

"President Hinckley had the gift to make people want to do better and to feel that they could. Last Tuesday I sat in a meeting with him as he considered and then decided matters of great importance, some about individuals and some affecting the entire Church. He was pleasant, incisive, and clearly inspired. For me, he raised the standard of what it is to be a disciple of Jesus Christ, giving all."

Statement from the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles:

"The Quorum of the Twelve Apostles unitedly expresses its heartfelt love and admiration for President Gordon B. Hinckley and the singular life of service he lived. He was our prophet, our leader, our brother and our friend. We feel a deep, personal loss at his passing.
"President Hinckley served as an apostle for more than 46 years, the last 13 of which were as the senior apostle during his time as prophet and president of the Church. From those earliest days to these most recent ones, he unfailingly demonstrated his devotion to the Lord Jesus Christ, whose witness he was at home and abroad.
"We will miss his wit and his wisdom, his leadership and his love. However, we cannot but rejoice in his reunion with his beloved Marjorie, with his parents and other family members who have gone before, and with the prophets of God, both ancient and modern, among whose eternal ranks he now stands. Scariest thing that's happened to me since living in Provo!

So I guess I shouldn't be announcing this on my blog but I've been home alone since Thursday. Chris has been up in Park City driving for the Sundance Film Festival and hasn't had time to come home once. So I've just been doing a great job staying busy and staying out of the house. Yesterday I even went to a movie, August Rush...BEST MOVIE EVER, by myself. That's right, I got their just in time for the movie to start and walked down that dark movie isle to luckily find a seat with my junior popcorn in one hand and my huge diet coke in the other. Loved it! I found that I actually do ok alone. I just mozy along and take my time doing whatever I'm doing. So everything has been fine and dandy until tonight...dun dun dun. It's 10:30, I just got out of the shower, I have all the lights on (I've actually been sleeping with some of the lights on because it makes me feel better, sorry landlords who pay our electrical bill) the T.V. is on and the dryer is going. Hey, lots of noise makes me feel less alone. Well, I'm in the kitchen with my bathrobe on and I hear a knock at the door. What?! 10:30 at night, that's creepy...who is knocking at my door? I stay put and immediately start texting Chris. This is how our conversation goes...

Christy- someone's knocking at the door but I'm in my bath robe and I just don't want to get it...
Christy- they just knocked again....why don't they just call me?
Chris- then don't get it. who is it?
Chris- look through the peep hole.
Christy- YA RIGHT!? that's creepy. I just crawled under the table in the kitchen. But don't worry, the door is locked but all the lights are on so they know someone is home.
Christy- That's mean if it's someone we know and they know I'm home alone. (I was just trying to think of the possibilities and it being some creep just wasn't a possibility)
Chris- well just don't answer it and if it's someone we know, you can tell them you were in the shower.
Christy- if it were the Popes (our landlords who live above us) why wouldn't they just call?(Again, just trying to think of who it would be)
Chris- it's the ups guy. don't answer it (Chris had called the Popes because he was worried and that's what they told him...that it was the UPS guy)
Christy- Why the hell is the ups guy here this late?! (Sorry for the lingo...I was scared)
Chris- Seriously, don't open the door
Christy- don't worry! that's the last thing I'm going to do. That seriously pisses me off. I seriously want to complain to UPS (I was thinking about how that would be the first thing I'd do in the morning)
Chris- Caleb(Pope) has it and said he'd bring it down...

So that whole time my stomach was turning, I was so nervous and my palms were getting sweaty. It just really creeped me out! Oh and I was under that kitchen table for 20 minutes. So I started texting Cassi Pope and she told me that they were coming down to bring me my package. And this is what the UPS guy just had to deliver at 10:30 at night...






HAHAHAHAH. Oh my! Well I guess the Popes have been receiving our mail and got this package today from UPS and Caleb thought, "Hey, I should dress up as a UPS Guy and deliver this to the Hornes!" hahaha. Oh man, you guys are hillarious! And I mean that. Even though it scared the crap out of me, I thoroughly enjoyed it! Thanks for the fun eventful night!! We love being your neighbors and I especially will never forget this. Thanks! That had to be the scariest/funniest/creepiest thing I've witnessed since living up here!!

Definitely Inspired!

K all you cute lil Marathoners....I want to join the club more than ever now!! Salt Lake City Marathon, here I come! I think it's only appropriate considering the fact my first Half was last years same race.
(I reserve the right to back out and feel no shame if something were to start growing in my tummy...)

An Issue I've had for Quite some time....

All day today, I've been thinking about the poor girl who died crossing the street in one of these crosswalks yesterday. I have a real issue with it and was seriously considering doing a petition to make the City of Provo DO something about this problem! As a matter of fact, the same thing that happened to that girl, almost replayed right in front of mine and Chris' eyes TONIGHT! You see, that girl wasn't carrying a flag (not sure if that would've even helped) and a car in the far lane didn't notice other cars slowing and couldn't see any person. So he ended up fatally hitting her at 40-45mph. Tonight, Chris & I were in the far lane when he noticed some cars slowing, but it looked like they were just getting ready to turn. Out of NO WHERE, 3 students come crossing in front of us, causing Chris to slam on his brakes and honk. I immediately throw my hands up in the air and the students looked at me stupidly while pointing to the white lines, as if to say "Hello, we're in a crosswalk and we're invincible and every car can see us, duh!" I'm not KIDDING, this happens all the time where these kids think they're invincible while within the white lines! I couldn't help myself (considering the fact I've been steamed about this issue all day) and rolled down my window shouting, "CARRY A FREAKIN' FLAG IDIOTS!"
Anyways, I took this picture right after that incident. And while getting ready to do this post, the news comes on covering the issue. I guess Provo City Council read my mind and has finally decided to address it. It's just too bad they were too late. They're considering putting up a light system (exactly what Chris & Erik thought up today) that will be activated by students when crossing.
I just can't believe it's taken this long. But I guess I'm relieved it's happening at all.

Natty is Here!!

The Primo's found this new quaint Restaurant, Pizzeria Seven Twelve. And were kind enough to introduce it to us all! It may just be a new weekly visit...

And we could not be more excited to have Natty living in Provo! Now she can join us on all our fun!

FATIGUED!!

Well, I am definitely pooped! I think it's the bad eating + 2 much Diet Mt Dew + Speed Workouts that Chris pushes me through! My Plan....healthier eating & not as many speed workouts (I just can't give up my diet mt. dew, sorry!) So today we got off to a good start. We made my favorite Spaghetti sauce which consisted of minced garlic, chopped onions and bell pepper and then 1 can of diced tomatoes and 1 can of tomato sauce along w/ some spices. And then, this is my favorite part, we had it with Spaghetti Squash instead of noodles. It's so good! If you haven't tried this, you definitely should the next time you make Spaghetti. That said.....

It's really easy to prepare, so try it out! Oh and Costco sells Butternut Squash pre-cubed in a bag(I'm sure grocery stores do that too) But how easy does that make it!?

These two things could've been very helpful yesterday......

Yes, I know some of you were running in the rain yesterday but I promise that's 10 times better than snow! I know I need to stop my complaining and get use to these conditions. I need to learn to love them but running in 3-4 inches deep of snow while snow is falling in my eyes isn't the best of running! My ankles killed and they still kill today! I guess it's time to do some research on what I can do. Also, my apparel definitely needs some upgrading!
Any suggestions are more than welcome!!
(Natalie, I know you lived up here and ran in this all the time....help me!)
